Collaboration with the Atlantic Ocean

Collaboration with the Atlantic Ocean is inspired by a series of drawings called At the Edge made during the 2023 Arctic Circle Residency. In June 2024 I built the raft with the kind support of the artist Rebecca Manson. The raft holds a plexiglass container where a sheet of paper is placed. I pour the paint and water onto the paper.

Weather permitting I install the raft along a shore in Kenmare (V93 V343). The movement of the ocean rocks the raft and creates the patterns on the paper while the water slowly evaporates. I leave it from 12 hours to even one week to dry. I need to follow the tidal cycle as I can access my raft only when the tide is low.
