TELEPHONE by Dorota Borowa

TELEPHONE is a project organised by an incredible team led by Nathan Langston. It started last year in March with one message, a quote from Mike Shanahan, writer and editor with a doctorate in rainforest ecology. The message travelled to six artists who created artworks in response to it. Then the works (without the quote) were assigned to another group of artists to inspire other pieces of art and so on. Last year during our first lockdown a work arrived also at my studio in Ireland and I contributed my piece. The 'encrypted' quote travelled over 7 millions of kilometers, and was passed on nearly 1000 times. The message was revealed to all participants last Saturday! TELEPHONE was an amazing experiment, run on a global scale, which required significant and passionate dedication. I recommend checking out the result of this project which is an online exhibition of many forms of art.

"Paper Landscape" at the virtual festival ‘RE-ANIMACJE’ organised by the XX1 Gallery in Warsaw by Dorota Borowa

I'm delighted to share that my video "Paper Landscape" will be streamed by the XX1 Gallery in Warsaw as a part of their virtual festival ‘RE-ANIMACJE’. My work touches on the subject of remoteness and isolation. The paper landscape created in the window of my home studio substitutes the desire to visit exotic places. Natural light animates it and creates its own image, in the background of the recording you can hear the sounds of the city.
